As some of you know, Mint Julep is opening a third store in NYC on Monday, August 11th! We're so excited and so proud but our happiness just won't be complete until each and every one of you visits us in our new space!

These really are the cutest card holders and passport covers that I've ever seen. These babies are made by New Yorker, Jamila Tazewell who uses vintage papers covered in some sort of waterproof material for her little works of art.

So not all of us are six feet tall and some of us don't want to wear five inch heels everyday just so our jeans don't drag on the ground; sometimes we don't have time to have our jeans tailored and some of us just really like flats.

Denim that loves the earth

We're all concerned about our planet and we understand that our actions have a direct effect on our earth's well-being. That being said, we're excited to tell you about our first pair of eco-friendly jeans!

Joe's "Stardust" has been a gorgeous and flattering style since its inception and now it comes in a version made totally out of organic cotton. A feminine low rise and a perfectly flared leg make these summery jeans one of my personal favorites both for their design and their eco consciousness. Come check them out!

We love Harvard Square!

Mint Julep loves Harvard Square. We’re so proud that our boutique is part of a diverse community built on ideas and learning. There are a staggering number of locally owned shops, yummy restaurants, almost 20 bookstores, coffee shops, theaters, and of course, one of the best schools in the world right in our neighborhood.

We are incredibly impressed with the work done by Harvard Square Business Association (HSBA) to beautify the Square with colorful lightpost banners, hanging baskets in the summer and sparkly lights in the winter. By planning events like MayFair, Octoberfest, Think Pink, The Bookish Ball, Make Music Harvard Square, and Patios in Bloom, the HSBA brings people to the Harvard Square to celebrate what makes this such a great place to visit, eat and shop. Thanks to the HSBA, there is now free public Wi-Fi in Harvard Square, so grab your laptop, a coffee from Crema and find a spot in the sun to check your email or scan the headlines. Summer reading

My co-workers Sara and Mandy, who are clearly lovely and intelligent, have some book recommendations for us! Sara says we all need to read Augusten Burroughs' new memoir Wolf at the Table and David Sheff's Beautiful Boy. And Mandy insists that Hermione Lee's Edith Wharton is a biography worth reading (and not boring at all). Get to the bookstore folks!

Orla Kiely

We just received a shipment of Orla's latest designs and they are cuuute! I especially love the makeup bags which have nylon liners and can be cleaned of even the most stubborn cosmetic spills.

And the fun doesn't stop there.

Per usual we received prints in shoulder bags and the larger carry-all styles as well as the messenger styles.

And this time we've been graced with some really beautiful tote styles (see below!) that are absolutely perfect for the beach. They even fit a laptop!

Earring arrivals!

Mint Julep is overflowing with new earrings for the Spring. Along with some of our favorite standbys (rose earrings in bright, summery yellow anyone?), our displays are sporting dyed quartz drops in loads of colors, actual leaves dipped in gold or sterling silver, and freshwater pearl studs that provide the perfect pop of color. Remember, Mother's Day is Sunday so come pick something up for your Mums!

We're going to be famous!

We're excited to share that Mint Julep was recently part of the MTV show Made and that we will be making a cameo appearance on an episode tentatively scheduled for May. We'll keep you posted on the dates, times, and other applicable details. Wish us luck!

Crazy for clutches!

Mint Julep is currently home to some really gorgeous clutches. From Orla Kiely to Lauren Mirken (designer of the above pieces), we got totally one of a kind pieces in vibrant colors like cobalt blue, mustard yellow, and sparkly gold. And we're not stopping with leather this season, we've also got straw and canvas thrown into the mix. These beauties are going fast so come take one home with you today!

Rainy day fashions

New England is notorious for its up and down weather this time of year. Opposite some really beautiful days are the one that are still downright crummy and your fabulous fashion attempts remain covered up. That being said, Mint Julep has several gorgeous trenches that allow you to show your style on the outside. Whether you're into subtle colors like khaki or if your taste leans towards sunny yellow, we can probably hook you up with a coat you'll be proud to wear.

These new handbags have a lot going for them. Their leather is buttery soft, their colors are striking but subtle, and their designer cares a lot about the people that work for her. Handmade in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Helena de Natalio, these bags are created through socially responsible production and fair labor practices.

Here in their cute little tins and smelling oh sooo good, Aunt Sadie's candles have arrived. After a long day of buying in NYC, here we are happily relaxing with some dear friends. Among the familiar faces, are our former manager Rebecca and her business partner, Laura of Crush Boutique and our former employee and jewelry designer, Hillary Dutcher of Ivy Hill Boutique in Colombus, OH. Once a Mint Julep girl always a Mint Julep girl!

We've got a new array of denim at our Harvard location! Our freshly constructed denim wall (courtesy of several trips to Home Depot) is host to our old favorites as well as some beautiful new styles never before seen at 6 Church St. Come check out vampy black JBrands, high-rise Citizens of Humanity in a springy light-wash, and Ravens that fit just about anyone perfectly.

Bathing Suits in January!

In spite of the treacherous slush I just trudged through, I'm still finding it impossible to fight those first twinges of excitement over the onset of Spring. It is probably partially due to the recent shipment of stunning Shoshanna bathing suits we recently put on display at Mint Julep. Not only are they perfect for all you lucky people going on vacation, but they provide those of us staying home with the much needed reminder that Summer is just around the corner.

Bling!

It's true that JoJo Bling earrings make a perfect gift for all your bestest friends, but since Christmas is over, we think it's high time that you went ahead and treated yourself to a pair. A new shipment has arrived with loads of fabulous colors and we have not only regular sized Bling, but also the new, slightly less conspicuous, Baby Bling.
