Today in Brookline: Have a Heart Extravaganza!


Today, the Brookline Rotary Club is sponsoring “Have a Heart: A Chocolate Extravaganza” from 12:00 to 3:00pm at the Brookline Holiday Inn located at 1200 Beacon Street to benefit Brookline Emergency Food Pantry!


Twenty vendors will be showcasing their best chocolate food and drink samples for alongside live music, and a Silent Auction featuring Red Sox tickets, gift certificates and other items!

If you cannot attend this event, feel free to contribute to the Food Pantry in our Brookline store by purchasing a gourmet gumball from our famous gumball machine!



ABOUT THE BROOKLINE EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY:

St. Paul's Church hosts the Brookline Emergency Food Pantry. Food and money are donated by Brookline communities of faith and organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Coolidge Corner Merchants Association, and the letter carriers. Needed items include cereal, pasta sauce, soups, canned meats, tuna fish, canned vegetables and fruit, and toiletries. Funds to purchase these items are always welcome. Volunteers are always needed.

The pantry is open 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every week.

The number of visits to the pantry by individuals and families in need of supplementary free food continues to increase—from under 1000 in ‘02 to over 2000 in ‘05 to almost 2700 during this past year. In particular, there has been a marked increase in families with children using the pantry. For more information, please check out the Food Pantry's website:
